VOLUNTEER
WORK IN BRAZIL
A
different holiday / make a difference
Pantanal Ecoexplorer is a Brazilian pioneer in combining
responsible tourism with humanitarian actions and we
are always looking for enthusiastic nature lovers to
become involved in our volunteer programs. Our main
goal is to preserve the rich natural resources of the
Brazilian Amazon and assist the native villages in maintaining
the unique ecosystems in which they live. We also aim
to provide a unique opportunity for individuals and
groups to experience a different way of life, while
providing valuable and highly appreciated assistance
to these small communities and the environment in general.
The contributions you make at village level are real,
tangible, and make a genuine difference that leaves
a lasting impact.
PROJECTS
We are looking for volunteers to assist in a number
of projects that we operate in the heart of the Amazon.
Some of the major programs are:
Community projects:
Building schools
- Donating school materials
- Providing health care in community medical posts
Teaching:
- Giving English lessons to community groups
/ school
Wildlife & habitat conservation
- Upkeep / maintenance of wildlife sanctuaries and reserves
These are our main projects operating in the
Humaita (Amazon) and Coxim (south Pantanal) regions
and more projects are being planned. If you have any
special interests or skills to offer, we would love
to hear from you and have you join our growing corps
of volunteers.
- REQUIREMENTS

Wildlife knowledge and experience is not necessary.
However, a love of nature and a passion for the environment
are essential. The Eco-volunteer program is suitable
for anyone who is in good overall health and can tolerate
the extreme conditions of the tropical rainforest.
Patience and a sense of humor are essential and knowledge
of Portuguese, Spanish or English is a definite asset.
DURATION
Eco-volunteers are needed all year long and any length
of stay is appreciated. To maximize your experience,
we suggest a period of 1 - 2 months or a minimum time
of 2 weeks. However, all stays can be negotiated and
made flexible to suit your itineraries.
FOOD
AND ACOMMODATION
Basic lodging with a family in the local village will
be provided, as will most meals. While doing your regular
volunteer work, you are encouraged to participate in
the daily life of the community and household, for example
by cooking meals and maintaining the home. Special diets
such as vegetarian, vegan or food allergies can be made
available.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
We charge a small fee per week prospective volunteers
to participate in our community projects. However, we
do ask that they come along on one of our expeditions
to gain some jungle experience and orient themselves
with the rainforest. Please contact us for details and
we will be happy to assist. The communities value your
assistance; therefore, all projects are flexible.
