DISCOVER THE MATO GROSSO
WILDLIFE & NATURE TOURS FOR ACTIVE TRAVELERS

To enhance your Pantanal experience, you can also visit the other natural wonders found in Mato Grosso. To the North of Cuiabá lie the dense jungles of the Amazon, to the East are the highlands of the Cerrado and to the South lie the Pantanal wetlands. From Cuiabá, capital of Mato Grosso, Pantanal Ecoexplorer operates a variety of birding & nature tours into the Amazon region of Alta Floresta, camping trips in the Vale do Rio Guapore for wildlife and dolphin viewing, trekking tours in the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Guimaraes, and tours focused on snorkeling, diving and cave exploration in the region of Nobres, all accompanied by expert guides.

Choose your next destination!

CHAPADA DOS GUIMARAES

Cerrado ecosystem

Chapada dos Guimaraes is located in the tablelands that mark the western edge of the Brazilian central plateau. During our tours you can visit numerous attractions, including the impressive Veu de Noiva (Bridal Veil), an 86m free-falling waterfall, and the Cidade da Pedra (Stone City), which has magnificent views and features rock formations reminiscent of stone temples. The Mirante (Lookout) is the unofficial geographic center of South America and offers a stupendous view. From here, you can even see Cuiabá’s skyline. The sheer 80m drop called Portao do Inferno (Hell’s Gate) is also unforgettable, as are the Aroe Jari cavern & Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake) cave. The park is only 1 ½ hours from Cuiabá.
1 to 2 day tours available.

VILA DE BOM JARDIM & NOBRES
Cerrado ecosystem

Near the north Pantanal is the small town of Vila de Bom Jardim. Here you can snorkel with the fish in the crystal waters of the Rio Salobra. You can also visit water falls, subterranean caves and a blue lake that is every bit as spectacular as the one near Bonito. You can also go diving in beautiful lakes teeming with fish.
2 – 3 day tours available.
Please Email us for further information.

ALTA FLORESTA
Amazon ecosystem

Located 873 km north of Cuiabá, Alta Floresta is situated in the extreme north of Mato Grosso, at the edge of the pristine southern Amazon rainforest. The area around Alta Floresta offers some of the best wildlife viewing in all Brazilian Amazonia. Superb bird watching. Jungle treks. River exploration of the Cristalino River. Lodge & camping accommodations.
5 to 10 day tours available.
Please Email us for further information.

RIO ARAGUAIA
Cerrado, rainforest & wetlands ecosystems.

Explore the mighty Rio Araguia by a regional riverboat. The area offers some of the best freshwater fishing in the world. During the May to October fishing season, fish such as tucunare, pintado (catfish), pirarucu, and pacu are there for the taking.
The birding is great and pink dolphins are abundant, as are black caiman and giant river turtles.
Ecologically, the area is a transition zone where Pantanal-like wetlands meet the rainforest and Cerrado.
5 to 10 day tours available.
Please Email us for further information.

RIO GUAPORE
Cerrado, Amazon, Pantanal ecosystems.

Explore the lively frontier town of Vila Bela and the pristine rain forests of Rio Guapore.
Travel the Rio Guapore in a canoe surrounded by the sights and sounds of monkeys in the trees, beautiful birds around you, and dolphins in the river. Three ecosystems – rain forest, Cerrado and wetland – converge here, offering an outstanding area for birdwatching and wildlife viewing.
3 to 5 day tours available.
