DAY
1 - CUIABA - PANTANAL ( Pousada Pouso
Alegre )
Arrive at Cuiabá/Varzéa Grande airport
or pick up at your hotel and transportation to
the Pantanal lowlands. We will arrive at the Pouso
Alegre lodge in time for lunch. Along the way
you will come into direct contact with the flora
and fauna of the Pantanal, such as jacaré,
capybaras, jabiru storks, macaws and white egrets
surrounding the bridges and other water ways.
Hike in the late afternoon with an orientation
to the area followed by dinner.
Night safari (on foot) to spotlight caimans and
nocturnal animals. Stay at the lodge overnight.
DAY 2 - EXPLORING THE PANTANAL
( Pousada Pouso Alegre )
Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal´s
flora and fauna found on the Pouso Alegre private
reserve. After an early breakfast, drive along
a private dirt road to Bento Gomes River; canoe
trip to spot aquatic wildlife, birds, and flora.
Nature walk through the woods to learn more about
the local environment. Return to the lodge for
lunch. In the afternoon, the guide will lead you
on a jeep safari exploring the forest and grassland
in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge for
dinner; nocturnal safari by car in search for
more wildlife.
DAY 3 - TRAVEL FROM POUSO ALEGRE
TO POUSADA SAO CRISTOVAO
Early morning breakfast and depart by open truck,
travel along the transpantaneira road for another
20 km , then turn off and continue along a private
trail for another 20 km on, an off the beaten
track until reaching a remote place. Crossing
forest and fields, arrive at the São Cristôvão
Lodge. The lodge is located right by the Bento
Gomes river. Afternoon walking Safari, and later
today we go for a night safari to see rare animals
such as ocelots and foxes. Dinner and overnight
at Pousada Sao Cristovao.
DAY 4 - EXPLORING THE PANTANAL
( Pousada Sao Cristovao )
Full day river exploration by paddling boat along
the Bento Gomes river, this region has a large
concentration of rare birds and mammals such ascapybaras,
capuchin monkeys, tapirs, howler monkeys, giant
river otters, and many storks, ibis, herons, hawks,
toucans, hyacinth macaws and others. Night safari
by boat to see nocturnal creatures with spotlights.Stay
overnight at sao Cristovao Lodge.
DAY
5 - TRAVEL FROM SAO CRISTOVAO TO POUSADA
CARANDA
Morning Jungle walk, horseback safari to see more
wildlife.
After lunch depart and travel for about 4 hours
to the remote Carandá Lodge. Along the
way we will pass several ecosystems of the pantanal
allowing us to see many rare parrots, hyacinth
macaws, ocelots, and giant anteaters, which live
in this area. Arrive to the lodge late afternoon,
dinner, night safari on foot to get close to the
local wildlife. Overnight at Pousada Caranda.
DAY 6
– EXPLORING THE PANTANAL ( Pousada
Caranda )
Full day land and river exploration, first we
explore the paraguaizinho river by paddle boat,
fishing for piranhas, view abundant bird and animal
life, in the afternoon we visit one of the largest
migratory bird nesting areas in the Pantanal.
Return to the lodge for dinner, night safari by
truck. Stay overnight at the Carandá Lodge.
DAY 7
- PANTANAL - CUIABA
Early morning excursion for a last look of the
local wildlife. We will visit a small hill, where
you can walk up hill to the top, here there is
a look out point that has magnificent views of
the lowlands, we will also see a different animals
and vegetation in this area. After lunch, depart
for Cuiaba, arriving at around 6 pm, drop off
at the airport or hotel.

This simple lodge focuses on the nature around
it with hyacinth macaws and toucans as well as
many mammals regularly visiting its grounds. Here
the wildlife of the Pantanal comes right up to
your window llowing you to appreciate its riches
at first hand. The lodge is located 145 km from
Cuiaba. It has rooms with
airconditioning, private bath, hot water. There
is a main dining room and bar.
FAZENDA SAO
CRISTOVAO
The fazenda is 25km from the Transpantaneira road,
located on the banks of the Bento Gomes River.
This is an authentic fazenda in operation for
more than 50 years, offering basic accommodations
in rooms with mosquito nets, fans and private
bath. The dinning room is screened so you can
see and hear a wide variety of birds.
The surrounding area is good for spotting tapirs,
marsh deer, capybaras, small cats, rheas, jabiru
storks, macaws, toucans, howler monkeys, and anteaters
are also abundant, and the river is teeming with
piranhas.
FAZENDA CARANDÁ
The fazenda is 50 km from the Transpantaneira
road, next to the Rio Paraguaizinho. Carandá
is a rural fazenda with a rustic atmosphere. The
rooms have private bath and fans. Visitors can
also help out with the operation of the farm,
from milking cows to rounding up cattle in the
afternoon. |
