PANTANAL ECOEXPLORER was founded in 1992 by a group of environmentally-conscious Brazilian tour guides with the aim of promoting ecologically-sensitive tours in the Pantanal region of Brazil. The company is based in Cuiabá, capital of Mato Grosso state, and maintains an operational office in Campo Grande, in the southern Pantanal, to handle our own services there.
We are not a booking agent providing clients to subcontractors and we have managed to avoid expensive advertising and unnecessary middlemen. This allows us to offer ecotourism at reasonable prices to our clients.
PANTANAL ECOEXPLORER offers a wide variety of ecotours, including birding and nature tours, photo safaris, river cruises, lodge and camping safaris, all tailored to those seeking a more active and respectful adventure in the outdoors.
We also run tours to other natural areas in Mato Grosso, including Alta Floresta, Chapada dos Guimaraes, Vila de Bom Jardim, and the Guapore and Araguaia rivers.
Most of our expeditions take you to remote destinations, away from the usual routes.
Our group sizes are kept small (2 – 8 members) to ensure maximum exposure to the local wildlife and local culture and allow guests to spend more time with their guides, which enriches the overall experience.

None of our tours are alike. We have a general region we like to share, but our tours are personal and flexible. We take into consideration the changing seasons and the daily weather conditions of the region to be explored.
We also create itineraries that cater to the individual or special interests and requirements of specific groups.
As supporters of authentic ecotourism, we contribute a portion of trip proceeds to local Pantanal community projects. We also follow a responsible code of ecotourism to minimize any detrimental impact on the environment and local culture.

EXPERIENCE: We have over 20 years of experience guiding tours in the Pantanal. We live here. We know the area intimately.

GROUP SIZE: We specialize in small group expeditions ranging from two to eight people. This allows personalized service, increased trip flexibility, and minimal environmental impact. A small group also allows guests to spend more time with their guides, which enriches the experience.

TOURS: All tours are customized to your interest. This is ideal for people who do not want travel with a large group on a pre-set itinerary. You can choose a photographer’s pace, a soft pace, or a ruggedly adventurous pace. You can concentrate more on bird watching, trekking, canoeing, fishing or horseback riding. You can be active before breakfast and / or well into the evening.

HIGHLY-SKILLED GUIDES: We offer the best local guides, who are hired based on their knowledge, level of professionalism, and dedication to responsible tourism.

VEHICLES: We operate our own vehicles that include an air-conditioned Toyota 4WD van, a small air-conditioned minibus, and a specially-built 4WD Toyota Landcruiser truck. The vehicles are new, thus ensuring a pleasant trip.

COST: Our company was founded on the belief that wildlife safaris & nature tours don’t need to be expensive. Being an owner-operated business, we don’t need a fancy office or other employees raising our overhead. We keep our costs low and pass this on to you.
